Apple Picking at Weeds Orchard
It was a perfect Fall day, the sun was shining bright and
there was a crispness in the air. The Magical Mystery group took a trip to
Weeds Orchard in Marlboro New York. When we arrived we received our bags for
apple picking and wagons for transporting the bounty of our labor.
First we had a delicious BBQ chicken dinner along with some
corn on the cobb, corn bread and baked beans. Then we started our journey
through the rows and rows of apple trees. There was such great variety to
choose from, Fuji, Golden Delicious, Honey Crip and so on. We picked the apples
of our choosing and filled up the bags that we later got to take home with
us.
Next we walked through the juicy Concord grapes and got to
taste both red and white varieties on our way to the tractor ride. The tractor
took us on a grand tour of the grounds, the rolling hills was quite the vision
for all of us on the ride. Finally we walked through the pumpkin patch and made
our way to the picnic tables where we ended our day with a snack of homemade cinnamon
and pumpkin bread. Everyone had such a great time!
